英国广播公司(BBC)国际部7日公布的一项名为“国家形象”的民调显示，中国的国际形象过去一年有所上升，44%的受访者对中国持积极看法，而去年这一比例为40%。

李（永辉）教授呼吁中国和其它国家展开更多民间交流，以在国际社会营造更积极的国家形象。
文中的people-to-people communication就是指“民间交流”，也可以称为non-governmental exchanges。民间交流不仅可以促进positive international influence（积极的国际影响力）和overseas image（海外形象），而且可以促进people-to-people diplomacy/public diplomacy（民间外交）。
目前，我国已成为engine of the global economy（国际经济发展的引擎），因此如何提升overseas image也称为面临的重要挑战。为提升国际形象，我国去年还在海外发行了national publicity film（国家形象宣传片）。
